4 ways to generate leads using social media

Written by Lucy Kemish

Your social media can be a powerful marketing tool if used in the right way with a carefully thought-out strategy.

You may think your social media is there to gain ‘likes’ or ‘reactions and comments’. But it’s so much more than that. First, let’s clear one common question up before we deep dive into generating leads.

Q: Do ‘likes’ matter?

A: “Yes and no” is the quick answer.

The more reactions (such as likes) you have on a post, the more chance it has of reaching other people. But it’s important to remember that these ‘vanity’ metrics won’t always equate to the business it brings in. You could have 500 likes and still have limited business.

So, how do you generate leads using your social media?

1.      Use engaging content that is relevant to your audience

Your target audience wants to see content that engages, entertains, and informs them. By using this type of content, you start to build rapport with them. Your clients come to you because you’ve slowly shown them what you do, who you are, and that they can trust you with their child’s best interest at heart.

2.      Use a call to action

By using a clear call to action (e.g., ‘learn more’, ‘book here’) you’re encouraging your potential client to take the action you want them to make. You’re guiding them through the process and taking the stress out of it. They’ve already got a mind full of different questions. So, making that process as easy as possible is definitely needed when working with parents of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities.

3.      Choose your platform(s) carefully

If you’re on the wrong platform(s) then your audience will not see your posts. So, trial platforms if needed, to know where your audience is. Profile your target audience to gain a deeper understanding of who they are and where they show up.

4.      Use a variety of hashtags

Research in this area is a must! You need to ensure you’re using hashtags that are relevant to your target audience, the topic, and the platform. You’ll also need to identify that the number of hashtags are appropriate for the platform. Hashtags allow your content to be grouped into the same category as similar posts, allowing you to expand your reach to potential customers.
